In rural Tanzania, many families face immense challenges accessing vital healthcare. Families like Rudia’s live long distances from hospitals, struggling to find the care they need. But this Giving Tuesday, you have the chance to bring hope and healing to more families like hers.

Rudia lives with her husband, their daughter Ebenezeri, and her two nephews, Joseph and Ezekiel. When all three children began suffering from eye problems, Rudia’s dedication to her family changed their lives forever. Joseph, just 10 years old, had cataracts that caused him to leave school, feeling isolated and left behind. Ezekiel had been held back four years in school due to his poor eyesight, while Ebenezeri also faced a future of challenges without treatment. Determined to give them a brighter future, Rudia sought help.

“I worried and worried until I cried,” Rudia recalls of the day the three children underwent surgery with support from Sightsavers. Thanks to the kindness of supporters like you and the expertise of dedicated doctors, the surgeries were a success. Today, all three children can see clearly and are back on track to pursue their education.

Rudia’s message is one of gratitude and hope: “I urge that when and if you meet children like Joseph, please hold their hands and walk with them like you did with us.” This Christmas, there are still countless families waiting for help. By donating this Giving Tuesday, you can bring life-changing sight-saving treatment to children like Joseph, giving them a chance to thrive.
