Giving Tuesday: GoFundMe announces Louise Cooney fundraiser to help Ireland this Christmas as it encourages charity donations to help cost of living crisis

Louise is aiming to raise €5,000 for The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul. These funds will be used to provide hundreds of families with vouchers to their local supermarket this festive season.

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) is currently receiving a staggering average of 150 requests for help every hour. Figures collected at the end of October 2022 showed they had already received 168,00 requests in Ireland in 2022- that is a 19% increase on the same time last year.

Writing on her fundraiser Louise said:”No one should have to choose between giving their loved ones a Christmas present or putting food on the table, but unfortunately, this year, that will be the reality for thousands of people across Ireland. “With your help, I want to ease the burden on vulnerable families by raising funds for The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) to help provide food vouchers to those who need it most during the festive period so they don’t have to face this impossible decision.”

GoFundMe is the official partner of Giving Tuesday in Ireland this year. Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement designed to unleash the power of people and organisations to transform their communities.

Alexandra Richards, Senior Communications Manager for UK and Ireland at GoFundMe, said: “GoFundMe is the home of help, and Ireland has been our inspiration as our most generous country. “That’s why we chose to partner with Giving Tuesday and encourage donations to the most vulnerable this year. We know that Irish people will be more than happy to oblige.

“We are delighted to help so many important causes working to support those struggling this Christmas as the impact of the cost of living continues.”
