The International Development Foundation is the charitable arm of the Irish League of Credit Unions. Across the island of Ireland, we know the value of the credit union model to individuals, communities and workplaces. For over 30 years Irish credit unions in turn have been supporting credit union development in low-income developing countries. The Foundation works closely with local partners, providing financial and technical support to train and educate staff and volunteers to enhance strong operations and governance for their credit unions. We believe these credit unions can provide much-needed access to secure savings sand affordable loans, empowering people, their families and the local community, and in turn helping to reduce poverty.
Giving Tuesday
The Foundation will be using all of our social media channels on Giving Tuesday - using a mix of images, videos and reels - to showcase our work and Irish credit unions are helping to support credit union development to help reduce poverty. We will be giving thanks to credit unions who support our work on an on-going basis. In addition, we will be asking credit union members to make a difference and donate to our work in the spirit of Giving Tuesday and the credit union philosophy of 'people helping people'.
